ATSC4 Intersection Controller

The ATSC4 is a next-generation traffic signal controller engineered to meet the stringent Roads & Maritime Services (Australia) TCS/4 specification. Designed for the demands of modern urban environments, the ATSC4 efficiently manages up to 32 signal (phase) group displays and accommodates up to 64 inputs from vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and emergency services. As a fully SCATS®-compatible device, it plays a pivotal role in adaptive Urban Traffic Management Control (UTMC) systems.

This controller offers exceptional operational flexibility, supporting multiple modes of operation. It can function independently in isolated mode, integrate seamlessly with SCATS® for centralized system control, or operate within a mains frequency coordinated flexible plan. This adaptability ensures reliable performance across a wide range of traffic management scenarios.

User Interface

A key feature of the ATSC4 is its intuitive Windows-based laptop interface, ATSUI. This advanced program provides a comprehensive, easy-to-navigate display of live intersection status, including real-time monitoring of communications, lamp switching, and detector inputs. ATSUI also grants access to all operational and timing functions, as well as detailed fault reporting and diagnostics, streamlining both configuration and maintenance tasks.

Robust Design and Construction

Engineered for durability, the ATSC4 features a weather-resistant, vandal-proof cabinet and modular construction for simplified maintenance. It supports various power supply options and is optimized for low power consumption, making it both versatile and energy-efficient. The controller is compatible with all major lantern types, including incandescent, quartz halogen, and LED.

Safety and Intelligence

Safety is central to the ATSC4’s design. Developed and tested to internationally recognized safety standards, it incorporates essential features such as “last red” and “flashing yellow” to enhance intersection safety during malfunctions. Distributed processors within each module enable the controller to generate detailed statistical and configuration reports, all accessible through the ATSUI interface on a laptop PC.
